The Washington Redskins have landed two players on the USA Today's "All-Joe" team: Running back Alfred Morris and offensive guard Kory Lichtensteiger.
The All-Joe team was created in 1992 by longtime USA Today writer Larry Weisman as a tribute to 14-year veteran Joe Phillips, who was well respected around the league as a blue-collar player for the Kansas City Chiefs. The newspaper has honored the unsung heroes of the NFL ever since, with players who haven't been named to the Pro Bowl eligible for selection.
Alfred Morris joins fellow Cleveland Brown's rookie Trent Richardson and New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley on the team. Morris finished with a total of 1,613 rushing yards, breaking Clinton Portis' team rushing record of 1,516, and Charley Taylor's record of most touchdowns scored in a rookie season with 13. He became the fourth player in the NFL history to recover over 1,600 yards in his rookie season and was named second team All-Pro.
Helping to pave the way was Kory Lichtensteiger, who joins the Philadelphia Eagles' Evan Mathis and the St. Louis Rams' Robert Turner at the guard position.
Lichtensteiger was a question mark heading in to the 2012 season, tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus in his right knee in 2011. However, Lichtensteiger bounced back, starting every game for the NFL's top-ranked rushing offense.
